Chinchillas have incredibly dense fur and clean it by rolling in special dust rather than water, and some keepers offer a short dust bath every day for the best coat. Others warn that too much dust can dry the skin and irritate eyes and airways, so two or three times a week is plenty. Many adjust frequency with humidity.
