Why
Pet milk has its lactose broken down or removed, so even lactose-intolerant pets are unlikely to get diarrhea. It's not a substitute for water, though, and it carries calories and fat that add weight in large amounts. Some pets may still react to other ingredients at first. Human lactose-free milk is low in lactose but may differ in fat or additives.
How to give it / if eaten
Follow the package serving guide, start small and check the stool. Keep treats within 10% of daily calories, and always provide fresh water separately. Refrigerate after opening and use it promptly.
Watch for these signs
Usually none, but drinking a lot may cause loose stool or diarrhea.
FAQ
Is human lactose-free milk okay?
It's low in lactose, so small amounts are usually fine. Avoid high-fat, flavored or sweetened versions and give only a little unsweetened milk.
Can I give it every day?
A small amount within the calorie budget is fine. If your pet gains weight or the stool softens, cut back.
